Can More Than 1 Copy Be Made With A Game Dump?

Post by NeoRio »

Just wondering if more than one copy can be made with a 360 game dump? I vaguely remember reading somewhere that each dump is unique and can't be burnt more than once. If you want an additional backup of your game would you have to re-dump for each copy?

Thanks

I'm not real sure on how to answer this because making more than one copy at a time of something falls under piracy. But what I can tell you is if your ripping equipment is setup right, no matter how many times you rip an original disk, your image file is always the same. A simple MD5 checksum of the resulting image can provide you with proof of this. If I ripped a game twice, but saved the resulting images in different folders, then ran MD5 checksums on both images, the checksums should be the same.

Are you saying that if you get a good rip (all SS and other info checks out good)...that everything would be exactly the same if you did another dump of the same game and got another good rip? There are no specific unique characteristics to each dump?

Yes. If your ripping equipment is up to par, then each rip of the same game should be exactly like the last one. If it weren't, there would be no way that xdvd mulleter would be able to suffice an online database. There would be to many differences to be able to fix a bad rip that way.

Good answer cofree, I was watching this one to see how it would pan out. That is a perfect response to a borderline question.
