Sorry if this post is completely noob.
This post is going to be revolving around the drive spoofing tutorial that sadalius posted.
Problems that has occurred
- Drive magnet came off and started making horrid grinding noise, so I glued it back where it should be but the 'unplayable disc' errors still occur frequently (although I can play games now, after a little struggle) and the drive still makes that horrible grinding noise when the laser is reading the inner part of the disc.
Here comes the question that will help me execute sadalius' tutorial... How do I get a 'dump' from a dvd drive? I tried using the forum search in the case this question and solution was already posted, but the search engine kept telling me my search was too broad no matter what keywords I tried. So, I apologize if this has been asked before in another thread.
[edit] By the way, I am not sure if this matters but my 360 was shipped with the hitachi gdr-3120L rom ver. 0059dj. The possible replacement is going to be something cheap for now, possibly a $20-$40 replacement from Walmart.[/edit]
quick question, maybe
Re: quick question, maybe
i moved this thread to the right place for you.
now for the question
man will need more info befors we can point you to the right place.
i can say this to replace the dvd drive in you 360 you must have the key from you old (broke) drive.
reqad over this and watch the video.
you will have to dump(read) the firmware in your 360.first.

Re: quick question, maybe
If I understand you right, you want to replace you 360 hitachi drive with a cheap, over the counter drive? If that's what you are asking than that's not possible. To spoof it you will still need either a benq, samsung or hitachi drive that was made for the 360. All of these are possible to spoof except the Hit. v79 as far as I know.exuun wrote:[edit] By the way, I am not sure if this matters but my 360 was shipped with the hitachi gdr-3120L rom ver. 0059dj.
