flash confusion v83850C

Post by mrgcars »

I have been watching videos on how to flash Xbox 83850C drive. Since I am new to the drive mods, its confusing to see who is doing it the correct way. I know there's several ways to skin a cat, but this is crazy. I have a maximus xtractor pro. I see that there are several ways to flash these drives. iPrep 10.7, Xtrator Reader, Xflasher and JungleFlasher 1.66. I also feel that I have compatibility issues as well. Here are my questions.

1. Do I need a PCI SATA Card w/ VIA VT6421A in order to flash the drive? I don't have on yet.
2. Since I am running on Vista 64 do I have to make any other mods for drivers?
3. Which software should I use to flash using xtractor pro?
4. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thank you for your help!

Flashing the 83 drives is mega simple, if you have the right equipment !

I use my onboard VIA sata chipset, not a VIA 6421 pci card.
CK3 connectivity kit - serial NOT USB
Iprpe 10.7, not junglecrasher, i mean jungleflasher !

Boot the pc from usb, with iprep 10.7, and follow the instructions. There is no need for a probe, infact you will damage your drive if you do try to use it.

hope this helps ?
