So I flashed my BenQ and ...

Post by xboxrox »

Well, my desktop can't boot for USB for some reason (even though I changed the settings in BIOS to boot from the flash drive, it wouldn't...like it just wasn't there). Anyway, I was able to successfully flash my BenQ using NTFS4DOS boot CD and using my C: drive to hold the iPrep.

Now, my question is, where would I find the old firmware and the new firmware on my drive? I looked in the entire iPrep dir and its not there (and that was the only thing on my C: drive, it was completely empty otherwise...I boot from my D: drive and keep the C: for storage).

I did look in my D: drive and there is a folder there with iPrep as well as two Benq .bin files that weren't there before, are these the old and new firmware copies? How can I look and see what is in these files? Also, where would my dvd rom drive key be located?

Thanks in advance for any help!

If there are new files on your D drive (I'm assuming your cd/dvd) what are their names? Usually the dumped fw and the new hacked fw are added to the flash drive, so I would assume it would be the same on the dvd. You can save these files to your c drive and then open them with 360toolbox (available in the "downloads" section) and see if they have your valid key.

when you went in the bios did you have a bootable usb flash installed in your computer.
build the boot flash with iprep
turn off and on (not restart) the computer and go strait to the bios and set boot from usb zip and boot from other devices.
the thing is that usb (now bootable)flash has to be in the computer for most computer to give you that option.

If you used iprep, you should find your firmwares in the backup/xxxxxxx/xxxxx where the x's represent the serial numbers that you used to read your firmware. The files should be named benq-ofw.bin and benq-cfw.bin, the ofw one is the original firmware and the cfw one is the custom firmware.

The files might be the ones that you found. When using the NTFS4DOS cd, it backs it up to the iprep folder where you run the commands. It might be that the iprep folder that you were running from was the d:\.

With the Benq, I pretty sure that there are 2 files that would be backed up ( sorry its been a few weeks since last did a benq)
