BenQ iXtreme 1.61 iPrep flash problems [SOLVED!]

Post by Daveid »

Hi. Long time lurker, first time poster.

I just recently tried to upgrade my iXtreme 1.41 BenQ to iXtreme 1.61 using iPrep 10.7 with 1.61_ixDef.

It reads the firmware just fine, erases it, and then when it's done flashing.. 3417 errors while writing with ****SUCCESS**** right below it.

I immediately see if the Xbox360 can boot, and it cannot. Once it reaches the end of the Xbox 360 logo intro, it just sits there replaying the same animation over and over.

I then proceed to reflash it. It erases, then when it's time to flash, I get "Can't open file for binary reading!" with ****SUCCESS****. This time, when the Xbox360 boots, it's just a black screen.

I need help. Is my drive FOBAR'd? If not, what do I do to recover from this? Do I reflash the original iXtreme 1.41 back on? I've been trying for hours now to get this drive functional again and would appreciate any help.

Thank you

Thanks for the response

Well, I'm have difficulty running JungleFlasher.

My current OS is Windows 7 x64. I have tried, and I cannot for the life of me get PortIO32 installed, making Jungleflasher not usable.

You did, however, inspire me to install the new "XP Mode" For Windows 7. I'm in it right now, I got PortIO32 installed BUT it's having trouble detecting my VIA

Should I just bite the bullet and install XP?
And yes, my drive is locked. It will not eject.

I'm installing XP right now

In the meantime, I downloaded those tools and had a look at that tutorial. One thing that I noticed is it says "Have your Benq Tray Halfway Open"

How can I do this if the drive won't eject anymore? Pry it open?

Alrighty, so, after a hetic weekend.. I finally got a real version of Windows XP x32 up and running on my PC.

Before trying DOSFLASH, I thought I'd atleast try Jungleflasher. Just for fun.

So, here's what I did.

1. Opened JungleFlasher
2. Went to MTK FLASH 32
3. Pressed Intro / Device ID
4. Turned my 360 off, then back on, got flashable status
5. Went to FirmwareTool 32
6. Loaded my orginal firmware .bin under source(in this case, I only had my iXtreme 1.41 firmware on hand, but luckily, it had my DVD key)
7. Jungleflasher asked if I wished to auto-load BenQ iXtreme, said yes (only works if there's firmware in the firmware folder)
8. Went back to MTK FLASH 32, pressed Write
9. After it was done, pressed Outro / ATA Reset

and voilà! Fixed! My 360 drive is now back to normal AND with iXtreme 1.61 to boot!

Thanks Darktron for your help, I needed someone else to keep me togethor during all this (Pretty much almost had a heartattack)
