couldn't you just swap the drives out with the new one if it is a lite on or is that a no go.

The console ID has been banned from xbox live. You can change it, but not on the current dashboard, and its quite a bit of work.

Swapping drives will not work.

Make sure you change the serial number stickers above the USB ports. The wal-marts in my area are now comparing that serial number to whats on the receipt. Not saying the place you try this at will, but just in case. This is way easier to do than dealing with some of the warranty stickers, although those are easy enough.

Yeap...also if you swap you might end up with an unhackable lite-on
If you're gonna do it anyways, you need to wear latex gloves...otherwise your prints will be all over the inner case. There will be no way in the world to explain out how your prints ended up in the inside of an" untampered" console.

Before CoFree says it, I'm going to. This thread is getting a little out of hand IMO. We probably shouldn't be discussing this.

I would not !! Take it back, if you do, and someone does buy it and it ends up being a banned system, they can check the console serial witch is in the system it's self and see who was originally banned on it and have all your info in there system to go back on you  think before you do something like that :D Just suck it up buy a new console, you knew the risk before doing so. Just wait till new FW comes out they will figure out a new FW for all drives and be as good as before :D :D

This is getting pretty off topic now...

Un-banning a console requires the infectus 2 chip, and the CPU key, in order to get the CPU key you must be on an exploitable kernel, so you need to downgrade.

I was commenting on the returning thing. It is not a good idea, when M$ receives it back as a return and powers it on, if they choose to check it. They will be able to see if it will connect to live and see it is banned then pull up the actual serial for the console seeing that it was registered to your name on file through XBL or under your gamertag with your info through XBL.
