Someone made a post in this section which had a call to microsoft, the woman on the other end of the phone said if you use a hard drive off a console that has been banned then you will get banned on the new console, dunno if this is true because ive used my old hard drive off my banned console on a new one and it was fine, so its 50/50 mate :)

There is obviously some confusion that needs to be addressed. It is completely safe to use your old hard drive as well as recovering your old gamer tag on a new 360. I have done both and am now happily playing MW2. See you on.

that guy, Stepto(official xbox guy) said it was safe to do. But formatting the drive might be a good idea first.

The reason he said that is because sometimes things get corrupted after a ban.

i have taken my hard drive out of my 360 and tried the test to see if your 360 is marked for a ban and it comes up with
Z: 8015 - 190D . so i will be banned when i log in , now for the little problem when i try to format the hdd on the banned console it asks me to put in a code serial of my console to format it is this normal and is there another way to do this

This is normal. Just put in the serial on the back of your 360.
