Hello everyone, here is my scenario:
3 boxes
1.sammy spoof liteon 1.51final
2.liteon 1.51 final
3.benq 1.51 final
My questions: I have a benq as one of my 3 boxes and have 1.51 final working on it though i have not updated the console on live but did the other two just before the big ban! around 6 months ago
I believe that it was because of that update that my boxes numbers 1, and 2 can read wave 4 patched to wave 2 just fine. The patching was done with dvdmulleter and I repeat boxes 1 and 2 read without problem.
This benq that has not had the live update just reads the same media tested in the other two boxes as a dvd but it has 1.51final and once again reading the exact same media tested on the other 2 boxes.
Would this benq benefit from updating FW to 1.61 or whenever a new one comes out for the purpose of reading a straight wave 4, being my mullet patched 2 doesnt read in this box?
NOTE*
I do not access live, the only reason to update the FW is because going on live to test my theory against the other two boxes would yield a ban for me. I only need this benq to read the media.

I would upgrade all the boxes. If you are using them to play new games, then you need the new firmware. I don't think that using a program to dumb down your games is a good idea.
The reason that those boxes won't read the game is because of the FW. You need 1.6 at least plus the activate ISO disc for wave 4. Or get 1.61.
I believe that this program: dvdmulleter no longer works or isn't very good.
IMO again upgrade the FW and use abgx to check the game.

the odd thing is that boxes 1 and 2 play the "dumed down" game just fine. Earlier today though i wanted to test if plugging in the hard drive that the benq had on it to one of the other boxes would let me read and save and it asked for a live update. which leads me to believe the problem is that the benq and its hard drive were never updated with that last live update before the ban.
It seems that you are correct in just updating to 1.61 for the benq. I will wait to do the other two for now.
As long as I can conserve time and read the data I am good with the other two boxes.
A last thought though,, should I wait for something other than 1.61 to come out? or will that cover me on the wave 4 datas just fine?
