Stream movies to a banned console

Post by Swissy »

Hello all, not seen this mentioned anywhere when i searched so here goes...

You can use ps3 media server to stream movies etc to a banned console from your pc, i was about to give up after many attempts with tversity, but once i set up ps3 media server, just navigate to your media files on the 360, for example say you want to watch king kong, well instead of selecting king kong.avi, you should see a folder in the directory browser called transcode - open this folder, then select king kong from there.

Enjoy your movie :)

You don't really even need to have a PS3 for that purpose. You can still utilize a 3rd party software media server like PlayOn on your LAN at home with a banned console. You don't need to be signed into Live to access the Media PCs or software servers from the console.

I tried tversity and a few others before and none worked, only ps3 media server did work, hence my post.

Tversity didnt work? Why not? It has always worked just fine for me. Although I haven't used it on a banned console yet.

On a banned console you get the media codec error.

And I stream tons of video to my box, even after getting banned. I dont use media center or anything. Just stream from the shared folder on my PC.

Not sure if using tversity, ps3 media server or any similar program will alter the quality, after all you're just streaming aren't you?

You say you have got ps3 server running, have you managed to stream a movie to your console?

3)windows pops up.
4)select ur media folder.
5)click advanced.
6)select always trancode.
7)submit and thats it.

There is no way around the codec error, even if the codec pack is installed to your HDD, you are not licenced to use it, so you must sign in to live to use them, and thats not possible.

Thus why you need some kind of application to stream/convert your files. Tversity does it on the fly (as far as I remember in my experience with it).

You can also straight up convert all your files to whatever file type, but thats a pain in the ass.
