Some advice/ answers for restoring hdd

Post by Stee01 »

Hey guys,

Basically I've been reading this topic on xbox-scene: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=695305" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in regards to dumping the nand to uncorrupt and repatch to the 360. This then restores hdd functionality that Microsoft stole in the recent ban wave.

I understand the concept of it and the soldering (sort of) and it seems fairly straightforward. I do however have a couple of questions that I'd appreciate being answered.

1. Would this work on an opus motherboard? I've read around several sites, which starts getting confusing as most of the tutorials direct it towards an old xenon motherboard.

2. This might seem a silly question, and I'm hoping the answer is a yes. Rather than solder to the motherboard (my soldering skills are not that great especially in crowded/large circuits) would it be possible to make this as some sort of probe/multi probe. I just press it down on the board and it works? Or alternatively is there a no solder solution or pre built circuits available?

Thanks to anyone who can answer my questions. Would greatly appreciate it. I found my trusty solder gun in the loft today (I'd rather a solder iron but it was free :) ) and I;m looking forward to using it.

Cheers

I don't know, man. That forum is kind of hard to read. It sounds like you needed to dump the NAND BEFORE you get banned, afterwards the keys/certificates/whatever are gone.

I don't know how big the pins on that chip are, but if you don't have to worry about to many points being connected, I would probe it.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake,
you just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake.

best advice i've heard so far in reference to having a banned console. get an arcade, they're $199 and it saves you time and from the headache of trying to accomplish something that is rarely accomplished. . . recover your gamertag and any downloadable content and start fresh.

Apparently the certs aren't removed as first thought. Theyre just disabled. Also from what I've read, because its a minor hex edit, you don't need your CPU key to decrypt it.

Heres more info if anyone is interested. http://www.xboxhacker.net/index.php?topic=12759" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Its the nand dumping process I'm a little concerned about (no one ever mentions opus boards). And of course the soldering to the mobo, which I think I can now fix.

Thanks for your help :)

Your link doesn't work. Let's use this one, I think this is the original source anyway. Now to find a computer with a parallel port....
