MS25 or MS28 Flash - Making Sure I Have Process Down
I don't want to post the process of doing this all over again but sccrbrandon4788 wanted me to so everyone could check it and make sure I'm on the right path...
So I haven't opened my 360 up but I know it's either a MS25 or MS28 and my money is on the MS25.
So I just wanna make sure I have the whole process down...
First I use iPrep to format my flash drive and everything. I check for updates and all that good stuff. I then load the firmware and check the box to Patch MTKFlash and then select the SCSI/RAID Host Controller. (Mine is automatically set, does that sound right?)
Then select the drive letter that the flash drive is and click the check box to format and make bootable. Then prepare destination.
After that I reboot and after I accept the terms of use I then enter, "dSam 123456 12345" (I know to enter the serial instead) and then if I get a success message I then power off my 360.
Then I accept to spoof the firmware to MS25. I then unplug the SATA cable from the 360 and then power-cycle (restarting?) the 360 and reboot the PC.
After back in DOS I plug the SATA back in the 360 and accept the terms of use again. Then I enter, "fSam123456 12345" and press enter.
Then it is done?
After this I can boot into windows on my PC and backup the Sam-OFW.bin and Sam-CFW.bin in the "Backups" folder, right?
Should I backup the original firmware at another time, instead?
Sorry...I just wanted to make sure I had everything down. If for some reason it ends up being MS28, which I doubt...all I have to do different is the 10 sec. trick, right?
Thanks In Advance, guys!

i say before you flash check your dump with 360 firmware toolbox to make sure its valid. if it is then you are good to go. if not, you need to dump again. give me a day and i'll do it for you if you dont feel up to it.
Re: MS25 or MS28 Flash - Making Sure I Have Process Down
most of that is right.
after the dump if it a v25 you will want to click "y" when it ask to spoff to a v28.
after the dump, firmtool will run and build your hacked firmware. Then power every thing down.check your dump key and make a copy of the orig firmware.
then reboot on the flash and flash the drive.
you want to check and backup the orig dump BEFORE you go on to flashing.
have a look at the video if you have not.

i would say it a v28 unless it a older 360
the v25 was some of the first dvd drive put in 360.
ask before you flash if you have anymore questions

That actually what I was just getting ready to do!sccrbrandon4788 wrote:well we wont know till you open it up! go get your torx! and open that case up!
What should I get for punching the holes on the oustide?
Re: MS25 or MS28 Flash - Making Sure I Have Process Down
Wait, you don't need to punch holes in anything to get the case apart. I use a tool specifically designed to help open the case, but you can use a stiff folded out paper clip, a very small flat head jewelers screw drive or something similar to release the latches on the back of the case and for the two end pieces., After you get those released, then rest of its pretty simple.

That's what I was meaning. I'll probably use a paper clip.sadalius wrote:Wait, you don't need to punch holes in anything to get the case apart. Re: MS25 or MS28 Flash - Making Sure I Have Process Down
Okay...to update I actually opened it up and it turned out to be a MS25...
I put it all back together and now the middle light on the 360 blinks continuously after being turned on...the disc tray is acting crazy now. It will open after being turned off...what do I do? lol

Re: MS25 or MS28 Flash - Making Sure I Have Process Down
Open the case back up and check that all the dvd drive cables are connect properly, about the only thing I can think off, either that or the eject button isn't seated properly.

Re: MS25 or MS28 Flash - Making Sure I Have Process Down
I've opened and closed the drive with the controller and then took the eject button out...everything seems fine but the middle light blinks continuously and when I power off it opens...and it will say "opening" and then when it' open it doesn't say "open tray"
Did I mess it up beyond repair?

The SATA cable is plugged in...
Could I try unplugging the SATA and powering it on and if it works properly it's the motherboard and if it doesn't work properly it's the drive?
What kinds of troubleshooting should I do?
Should I maybe start a new topic or let it continue on in here?
