streamin avi files

Post by staningrimsby »

Hi Guys,

Before the banning wave started my son had no problems streaming videos to his 360 and neither did I, even though my console is banned i am still fine but my muppet of a son went and sold his 60GB HDD for £20, (what a plonker)
and now consequently his memory card does not have the required update to play these and he cant download it as he is banned.

is there anyway of getting the required update so I can put it on disk or memory card etc and update this for him ?????

Regards
Stan.

Hi Stan,

as bad as it sounds, but in the state of being banned, there is no chance on having support for AVI (DivX/XviD i suppose). The required Codec Addon needs to be downloaded and signed to your console, which is impossible while being banned, since Microsoft disabled all the all the download and DRM functions!

The only chance on having Videos on a banned console is the playback of so called WMV Videos, since this codec is supported nativeley by the Xbox360.

doree is right, but you can also use a streaming application like tversity that will convert your video's while you watch them. It may cause about a 2 second delay from when you click play on your xbox to the time that the video starts playing, but thats better than having to wait hours to convert a video.
