iPrep Benq Help Please

Post by gtp80 »

Trying to flash a Benq with iPrep following the video guide on here. It read okay, but then when it was going to write, before I could press yes to continue to send the signal, it started to try to write (with the Benq off), it started with bank 1. I turned on the Benq, but got nothing. So, I'm going to try a restore and another flash. Anything I should know before I do? Thanks in advance.

Note: It doesn't make me wait for status D1 or turn it on and off and on again. I press yes to continue sending the signal, turn the Benq on, and it does it's thing. The status while it's off is 0X80 and when it's on, it's 0X73. Thanks again.

Update:
I just tried to restore back to the original firmware and it did the same thing. It erased fine, then it says make sure the Benq is off (which I did) and press any key (which I did). Then it says
Press yes to resend... (as usual)
Turn on drive... (as usual)
Here is where it should say MTK Vendor fail...and give me the chance to press yes to resend the signal, but it doesn't (unusual)
Writing Bank 0... (this shouldn't have started yet)
So I turn on the 360 (it does power up), but the screen doesn't change. It just stays at "Writing Bank 0..." with a flashing cursor.
And yes, I checked my original firmware key with the toolbox and it seems to be good (no repetitive numbers or letters).
Where do I go from here? Thanks.

mine did this exact same thing yesterday this is what i found made it write correctly.

once you get to the step where its done erasing you are supposed to turn off the machine then press a key to continue. i found if i turned it off and then pressed the key pretty quick after i would get what is happening to you. what i did was turn it off then wait 5 seconds then hit a key and this worked everytime for me. try flashing back the orig then start again like cofree said. not sure if it'll work for you but it fixed mine and i had the exact same issue

Sorry if I put too much information at once. I'll try to do another restore and take my time. Thank you to everyone. I'll post back with results.

Like your mother always said, "Patience is a virtue!" It turns out that all my problems were because I was doing it too fast. You must wait from when you turn the drive off before you press any key (at least with my drive). I successfully restored and flashed my 360! Thank you to everyone that helped. I couldn't have done it without the direction and tutorials of this site, and I never would have thought to slow down to get it to work. Thanks again. :D

I think cofree uses the connectivity kit from xecuter and an extra power supply from a computer to power his on and off. This may have something to do with it. But it would be good to put a note in there that if its powering from the 360 that you have to give it some time.

that is right.if you power the 360 drive with the 360 it does take longer. You have to remember that the 360 is just a computer that plays games.

Not many use a connective kit now day but i think its money well spent.
Then you would need to pick up a old computer supply (at power supply)

glad you got it going man.
let us know if you need any more help.

You can get the Xecuter connectivity kit V2. It has a power switch already on the kit. I use the V1 with an old AT power supply that has a switch on it like cofree does. Either way works fine, just a matter of spending the extra cash or using what you already have if you have it.

Also, with all the Benq's that I have done, I've never turned the Benq off after erasing it. Immediately after receiving ths successfully erased message, I give the command to write and it works like a charm for me this way.

I had this same problem with my first benq the other day.... thought it was me double-tapping space after erasing.

I tried it 2 or 3 times, same thing happened (skipped to the MKTIntro command without prompting). After sitting there for 20 mins or so decided to restart, and give it a whirl without turning the drive off between erasing and flashing.... worked fine from what i can tell :?

I couldn't agree more so much easier with a connectivity kit. Also it is faster there is a delay with the 360 power supply.

happy new year .......

I never turn the drive off after erasing. I go straight to flashing after the erase. Worked every time for me so far.
