Benq sounds

Post by phelixnyc »

Cofree you have Benq right? Was wondering if your Benq makes a grrrr kind of sound while playing backups while the laser is seeking info?

the only sound i hear from my benq is the spinning, and every now and then a clicking and the laser finds the next pack of data on the disc.

on a samsung drive i had one time
i had some bad backup (they would play) but it took a lone time for them to load i heard all kinds of crap from the dvd drive.
how did you do your backups.
are they burned on good disc real slow.

Well I use ImgBurn, 2.4x and Verbs. I also flashed with 5x ixtreme. It only makes sound when spinning also except its a low sounding grrr sound. This my second drive (xbox 360 with Benq) and the first one wasnt as loud as this one.

Well you know that initial sound that you hear when you first load a game, chrrring (for lack of a better word) sound well it does that during game. I believe its normal being that it should seek info during game. Just flashed 8x 1.41 sounds better, isn't that weird.? I decided that 8x was to loud a couple of day's ago flashed 5x now it seems much more quieter than 8x. Why could this be?

im not sure what your asking
the 5x will be quieter because the dvd is not spinning as fast

are you saying its not making the sound it was
and is better now

Seems that way Cofree. Not sure why but it does. The sound is more of disc being spun, but it does not sound smooth at all. It sounds more like a chrrring sound and not exactly a humming or purring sound.

i dont know man
if it better.then just go with it.
i still go to 12x just to see what it does.that the orig speed so i would think its best to start from there.im just trying to make sure its not a hardware problem in the dvd drive.
just could have been something with the flash i guess

Same here. This my second Xbox 360 in a week returned the other one because I tried to restore the drive about 10-15 times and it would not take. I thought maybe it was my hardware but I flashed a friends Benq 360 and that went fine so I returned it (have a extended warranty) I'll try 12x. When I do what am I looking for?

just a wind sound
with a good backup or orig it just sounds like a fan.
if you hear it clicking its having a hard time reading the disc
any other sound i would not know ive not heard it.

Make sure you are doing your dumps on a slow speed and also your burns. It sounds like the drive is having a hard time reading the media. Are you using the verbs from India or the ones from Singapore?

India. Flashed 12x but now the fan sounds a lot louder. Should I be hearing only the fan? I can hear the drive as it seeks for info . Its gives of a rrrrr sound not loud but audible.

i dont think you are hearing the fan.i think you are just hearing the dvd spin fast and sound LIKE a fan
yea you will hear the laser move back and forth getting its info.
you still not hearing the loud clicking you were hearing right.
i guess not just put it to which ever speed you want it to play at.

That may be part of the problem.

Are you sure its the fan you are hearing and not the drive spinning up? The drive will be spinning a lot faster at 12x than it did at the lower speed.

Cofree and Jman it was never a clicking its a soft chrrring but not screeching. Your right I hear the drive, damn it sounds like a fan. Yes i hear the drive seeking info thats when the soft chrrring comes in every few seconds, normal?
