possible drive fix?
possible drive fix?
my brother was helping me flash his lite-on 74 and he accidentally plugged the power plug in upside down. it wasn't plugged in all the way it just contacted cause when he moved his hand back it fell back out. it still worked fine after that but jf couldn't find it. after installing the port i/o drivers (even thought jf said that i didn't have to) i restarted and tried again, this is about 30min after he plugged it in up side down and jf still won't recognize it but now the drive is only responding every once in a while. it'll eject but then won't do anything else, then after a little while i'll power it back on and try it again and it'll close then thats it. is my drive pretty much dead or did something happen when i was trying to detect with with jf. i read a this thread http://www.ixtreme.net/general-support/ ... t2355.html would something like this work?
Re: possible drive fix?
i never got that far lol. the first thing he did was plug in in upside down. jf never recognized it from the start. is he doomed? could it not be making any noise because its erased or does they still make noise when they're erased.

I would maybe try iprep and see if it will read the key from it at all, and then if it does just put that key on a new drive.
