Iprep Error Msg When Trying To Prepare USB Boot Flash Drive?

Getting error message when trying to prepare usb flash drive with boot files.

I have a nforce 4 sata and tried using two diff usb flash drives:

1. Kingston 1gb Data Traveler
2. USB/MicroSD adapter w/2gb Kingston microSD card


Error Message:

Go to the tools bar at the top of iprep and click "check for updates". This will ensure that you have the latest def file available. Then try it again and see if that helps.

Looks like he's getting that message while iprep is trying to create the boot media. This is after he's loaded the benq firmware. I would try a different USB stick. Not all USB sticks will work.

there is a good chance that the sata port on the mobo is the problem
i would pick up one of these if you cant get it working.

ive used kingston 1gb and 2 gb cards before.

try it on a floppy if you have one and see what that does.

i did the update, it's all set, thanks!!

now i have another issue, i set my bios setting to boot from usb & any other bootable devices, it doesn't boot from the usb flash drive. is there anyway i can setup a boot cd instead

ive not done the cd way
you should be able to get it to boot off the usb you just need to find the right setting in the bios
have the boot usb plugged in the usb when you go into the bios

Yeah, I have to make two changes in my bios, one is to tell it to boot to USB device, then with the USB stick plugged in, I have to set the boot priority. Seems when I take the stick out, it sets the priority back.

I would've though the error you were seeing was from something else, since you were getting the error while you were reying to prepare the stick.

does it ignore the usb key & enter windows or does it simply hang?

I disconnected all my drives, booted from usb, flashed the drive, and everything is great!!

Glad you got it dude. Let us know if there is anything else we can help you with. There are some good tutorials in the tuts section on backing up your games if you need it.

I have a error " could not find a part of the path 'C:\Program Files\iPrep101\tmp\dBen.bat'. when i prepare the destination.using usb flash,I know that it means the file is not there but why not...I tried to use the update won't connet and then i install version 007 and take the idef.xml file from their to update and it still won't work...p.s cofree I figured I would register here since this is a much more active comm. then x-projects,I asked in a post over there useing the same user name...Thanks guys

hey man DO NOT GET 007 VERSION as there seems to be a problem with that version, there should be a post about this, get the old one instead and make sure you get your firmware from xbins and not anywhere else.

Definitly sounds like you are having iprep 007 issues like Pariminder said. There is a copy of the latest 006 version in the downloads section of this forum.

Yeah ever since installing 007 the going back to 6.2, 6.2 don't work now...well today I try it on a better dell hope it works...007 was a good idea and very simple but i guess we are gonna have to wait...
