Would spoofing a Samsung or Benq Drive into a Hitachi 0079 without a passkey work??

you have to have a passkey installed to do anything with the v79 drive.
you would need the key from the v79 dvd drive then put that in the drive you want to use.

but in the end it has to have the pass key installed to get the key from the drive.

Like CoFree said, you have to have the passkey installed on the 79 to get the key from it. So in all actuality, by the time you install the passkey, you might as well go ahead and flash the 79.
