I disabled the drivers in windows for the VIA chipset and used VIA only in jungleflasher, then proceeded to put drive in mode b, but when I try to continue I can't find the drive in the drop down list.

if your going to flash a hitachi try using a sata port direct from your motherboard most work for the hitachi dont need to use the via

via works too.

Yeah scanning for hardward changes does nothing. I just restarted my computer and plugged in the sata directly into my motherboard and it doesn't show up at all.

The drive is in the port properties so try dump the drive then tell us what happens

You may also want to try an older version of jungle flasher, one of the version's that doesnt send mode b then scan for the hitachi.

When using portio the drive won't show up in the dropdown box. Just dump the drive like louis09 said. Make sure that you've selected the right port properties.
