hi - guys - i sold my older pc which i use to use to mod xbox..i know have a dell...can i use the onboard sata to mod an xbox...i have run a program called CPU-Z and its given my mainboard as "SOUTHBRIDGE - INTEL - 8280 1 IR (ICH9R)?....can i use that ?..ta

All i can say is give it a try mate, some boards work with all drives, some with some and some with none :D

yeah some work and some dont. like louis said, give it a try but its allways best to invest in a via card.

for the 12.99 or 16.99 price tag for a VIA PCI card, I would avoid the probability of bricking your 360 drive and just buy the card and learn how simple it is to use. Don't be hasty, just order the card and have things ready for when it arrives.

hi - ive got a via card already, i took it out of my old pc before i sold it..the pc use to lock up and freeze, hence i went with the onbiard sata on my old pc...i might try the via sata card on my new dell pc, but first i want to try the on board sata....just to see if i can dump the files...but i wont erase the drive or write to it...

your better off if your on-board sata works...I would not use via card if I did not have to...I personally have three rigs set up two with on-board sata and one with via....they all work just fine but the via card was more work to make run smoothly...in the end you got to do what you need to do.

couldnt get either to work...managed to erase my 83850C v1 liteon drive....now it wont eject or anything....ive got my original enquiry, indentify and key files.....but cant seem to get anything to work..ive use the cofree usb boootable tut, ie with flit 1234567 12345 commands...but keeps coming up as "flash chip unrecongnised or something lite that"...
