Re: PS3 USB modchip claims to run "backed-up" games
It is really hard to find Teensy++ 2.0 or any other device like the blackcat usb to order now because that everyone knows about the PSGroove everyone wants one. I have been trying to get my hands on one of these but no luck. I was wondering if you can use the Teensy 2.0 not the ++ and will it still work? I have found a couple of those but are expensive. Hopefully I can get my hands on one of these devices. Cofree do you have one coming in the mail? Just wondering

Hey guys I read that this only works on 3.41 firmware so should u at least update to 3.41 if you are not already on it

PS3 fixes jailbreak problem with 3.42 firmware update
Update said to stop devices jailbreaking system through USB
By Marc Chacksfield

Firmware update knocks hackers for six
Sony looks to have fixed its jailbreak problem with a firmware update, after it was found that a program was able to get around the PlayStation 3's Fort Knox like protection system and run non-official games installed to an external hard drive.
Although there had been news recently that the jailbreak had hit mobile phones - this was after the PSJailbreak dongle version was banned by Sony - it seems that the games giant has seen fit to add additional "security features" to the PS3 which stops any unauthorised games working on the system.
No longer functional
According to Kotaku, website eXophase was the bearer of bad news to would-be hackers, explaining that "all variants of the USB-hub emulating exploit (PSFreedom, PSGroove, PSJailbreak) are no longer functional".
On Sony's official blog, the 3.42 firmware update is a minor update but one that does add an extra layer of security to the console.
Now that a workaround has been created, it's inevitable that jailbreakers will be going back to the drawing board to create a modified system.
Let the cat and mouse games begin.

Do not update now guys
Find and install the 3.41 kernel manually

Re: PS3 USB modchip claims to run "backed-up" games
Man, it said my teensy++ is going to be backordered until November..I wish they would figure out a psp or iPhone port soon..otherwise I'm probably going to get a dingoo.
I like to plug things in...then I like to unplug them..then I go to sleep...
Re: PS3 USB modchip claims to run "backed-up" games
if you can get a hold of a teensy a another solution is the ti-84 calculators(the hack is out ) you can find a couple on cragslist easy ... if found a couple in my local area easy a lot more common device than the teensy.... just another option .

Re: PS3 USB modchip claims to run "backed-up" games
"PS3JB is a FLASH application for the TI-84 Plus and TI-84 Plus Silver Edition that implements the PSGroove exploit for the Playstation 3 console. By connecting a USB cable between a PS3 and your calculator and running the application, you can trigger the PSGroove exploit from your graphing calculator."tron999 wrote:if you can get a hold of a teensy a another solution is the ti-84 calculators(the hack is out ) you can find a couple on cragslist easy ... if found a couple in my local area easy a lot more common device than the teensy.... just another option .

Re: PS3 USB modchip claims to run "backed-up" games
OK i got the exploit for the TI-84 and it works great. I have the backup manager installed on my ps3 but i have ran into a problem. It is minor but wondering if anyone else had any ideas. I went to copy Super Street Fighter IV over to my internal hard drive and it worked nicely during the backup but when i took super street fighter IV out of the tray and put in Assassin creed 2 to see if i could boot SSF. I pressed X on SSF in the backup manager it took me back to the ps3 dashboard and then i checked the disks but it was Assassins creed 2 instead of SSF. I have really no idea on what to do from this point. If someone could help me out it would be great. Thanks again. Also i was wondering I know there is a way to backup the game to an external hard drive also. Well i have a 1TB hard drive that i want to use but i can't figure out to use that hard drive instead of the internal hard drive. Hope someone can help me.
Re: PS3 USB modchip claims to run "backed-up" games
the external hd has to be in fat32
there are a number of games that have single files larger than 4gb and wont work like that
they have to be dumped to the internal HD
as far as not playing i dont know ive not got one here and running yet
man how about working up a guide for us
once you get the bugs worked out
what hardware you used and go into detail how/what you did

Doesnt the ps3 automatically update itself in the background?
Re: PS3 USB modchip claims to run "backed-up" games
