benq flashing hit 0059dj flashing and sammy ms28
hi, i am new to this so plez help me with as much detail as you can plz/
i have a xbox 360 arcade and i bought it last week. ive opened the xbox up and it says it has benq vad6038 drive and was made in august 2007.
i have iprep 101..006 and i made a boot usb.
i have a jmicron raid controller on asus p5k board. when i go in bios it shows that the xbox drive is connected and reading but when i try to read the drive in dos it stays at 0x73 but would turn 1xd1. why do you thinks this is hapeening.

Re: benq flashing
what is the chipset
you need a VIA chipset for it to read sam or benq.
there are some nforce boards that will work.
this is the card most of us use.

if you are using the 360 to power the drive it will take longer for the d1 to start flashing.

Re: benq flashing
yeh i am powering the drive from 360 so how long do you think it will take
Re: benq flashing
some guys say it can take a min or so.
when i did mine it was just about 2 sec.the D1 came on.Then in a sec or so it started to flash that means its good to go.

Re: benq flashing
mine doesnt go to the point where it says flashing i just type in dben and wait for the drv to reaqd but i waited 4 like a minute but there is no responce. on monday i should get my connectivity kit so it sholud be alrite
Re: benq flashing
hi got my connectivity kit but still the same problem it stays on 0x7f wont change the status. is this because i have windows vista installed
Re: benq flashing
Vista shouldn't have anything to do with it. Couple of things you want to check for. When you make your USB boot drive, make sure that your choosing the correct sata controller. I've seen listings that are confusing as heck to figure out which one is the right one and if you don't, then the dosflash program is looking for a device on a particular I/O address that never answers with the correct status and therefore your status codes do funny things like stay on on code or show the incorrect codes and such as that. Also, check you sata cable. If its bad, then you would get similar results.

hi, first of all thanks for a informative reply. i have tried three diffrerent sata cables and all of them say the same thing. when i was on my windows i made my boot device using jmicron raid controller. i havent changed nothing in bios except for making my device bootable. when i power the drv it shows in the bios which means it recognises it. do you think there is something else i need 2 disable or enable.

Re: benq flashing
Did we ever determine if this is a compatible sata plug? Can you show us which specific sata card you are using?

Re: benq flashing
That's what I thought. Before you do anything else, order the card that cofree recommended at the beginning of this thread. Onboard satas rarely work. We say this over and over! It is impossible for us to solve the problem as there is a really good chance that your sata port won't work. I don't mean to be rude but you have to pay attention to the advice that is given to you if you expect to solve the issues.

What does this meen " when i power the drv it shows in the bios which means it recognises it"
you should not have the 360 drive hooked up till the computer has booted in dos on the flash or floppy.

Re: benq flashing
Are you sure you are using the sata card that are proven to work? I use the VIA and worked like a charm. Ill suggest you make a bootable usb with iPrep it work better, I promise. If it keeps toggling be sure to try and keep tuen it on an off untill you get 0xD1 and leave it on.
Eso es asi mi pana.
