Hello all, this part from the LT+ .nfo confuses me...was wondering if someone could clear it up.
"You cannot spoof a different model drive as that can now be detected. With this release of LT+ you HAVE to have an original Benq or Liteon."
I spoofed my friends Benq as a Hitachi because his old drive died. It was an older Hitachi and from what I read the older models are exempt from the AP25 check. Is it safe for me to go ahead and update him to LT+? I'm not sure if this will cause issues as C4E stated the above. Here is currently running old dash (for now) with ixtreme 1.61. We may just need to get him to the new dash and try a AP25 game. Any suggestions?
I would like to at least get him updated to LT. Its a banned console so I guess it doesn't really matter though.
Thanks
Benq spoofed as Hitachi, LT+ safe?

just make sure to keep all the orig firmware on the drives
but
yea what could it hurt to try
its a banned console
i think it should work
the only thing i see is it would get the console flagged for a ban
and that dont matter

Re: Benq spoofed as Hitachi, LT+ safe?
Thanks for the quick reply CoFree.
I've been out of the loop for some time because I've never had a need to update from 1.61 to a newer firmware until the AP25. Just been trying to digest a lot of info lately, so please excuse my ignorance lol.
So when you state just to keep the orig firmware on the drives? What did you mean exactly? He had an old Hitachi that died so I threw a Benq in and spoofed to Hitachi about a year+ ago. From what I have been reading, there is longer a need to spoof as the new dash doesn't care whats in it. Is this what you are referring to?
Do you see any reason to update from 1.61 to LT or LT+ if the box is already banned and as the original drive was an old Hitachi and should bypass anyway?
I'll get him updated and just see what happens. Also, you have a great site and everyone here is very helpful. I've always been able to get the answer I've needed here. Thank you!

So if I read this correctly, don't spoof anymore in the future. If a Benq/Lite-On dies, find a Benq/Line-On replacement unless the box is already banned (then spoofing is ok).david_0161 wrote:"You cannot spoof a different model drive as that can now be detected. just as a safety thingdavid_0161 wrote: just to keep the orig firmware on the drives?
i keep a copy of all orig firmware
no i dont think that is rightdavid_0161 wrote:there is longer a need to spoof as the new dash doesn't care whats in it.
i think with the new dash a spoof on a benq or lite on will not work at all on a game with the ap25 check
i would just try and see if a game with the ap25 would play after the updatedavid_0161 wrote:Do you see any reason to update from 1.61 to LT or LT+ if the box is already banned and as the original drive was an old Hitachi and should bypass anyway?

Being a banned xbox your going to want to have a FW on the drive that will boot all games, and you dont need to worry about waves, or ap 2.5 etc.
Being the original drive was a hitachi the AP 2.5 check may not take place, and will be skipped allowing him to play ap 2.5 games.
So like cofree suggested try a few games make sure they work before you go and update the drive.

Sorry for the late reply on this, I just wanted to update you all. After taking the new dash, no AP25 games were able to be booted on his console without first using the activate.iso disc (the .iso's were verified in abgx and patched for AP25). I went ahead and updated him to LT from 1.61 and he boots without an issue.
Thanks all.
Thanks all.

Glad you got it all working!
