Hi Guy's
I'm just wondering if anyone knows where the problem arises from? the reason I'm asking is I taught it was from a bad flash or firmware problem but now I have a friend who says he has the same error on a console that has never even been opened ie "An Original XBOX360 Elite"
I have had two XBOX360's come back to me after a couple of months of being flashed saying that the DVD Drive wont eject and/or Open Tray error, both of these had the trace cuts done and had the "Xecuter Lite Switch soldered onto the PCB" but were running perfectly until now.
I would just like to be clear if it's to do with flashing! and/or a Laser issue.
Thanks in advance Guy's

Is the Open Tray error a laser or firmware problem?
Re: Is the Open Tray error a laser or firmware problem?
Open tray errors will always be laser related. A drive with no firmware will still play standards dvd's and play the message "Please put this disc in an Xbox 360" if it's a game.

it can be a bad backup burn also
but
that also is the laser (in a way)

If you suspect a bad burn, test it with another disc. Preferrably a retail game or movie.

well if you use memorex dish i have heard they are less quality that verbatiums and can cause lasers to burn out and also give the same open tray error
