- Use Xbox Backup Creator (currently 2.8 Build:0275) to backup the game.
- In the tutorial it says;
...but with Version 2.8 the "Build SplitVid ISO" is by default checked. Should this be left checked? Are there any other changes in version 2.8 that should be noted/tweaked?"If you want to build a splitvid ISO put a check in the box." - Some people on this forum have said that they like to do everything in Xbox Backup Creator, dumping, burning and stealth checking. The tutorial recommends using ImgBurn. Which one should I use?
- At the end of the ImgBurn Backup tutorial it says;
I imagine you are referring to dumping the game as a DVD file instead of an ISO file?--but in Xbox Backup Creator I did not see any other option than to "Read" it as an ISO file."I think the best way is to dump a dvd file when you do your dump of the game.Then you can use img burn to burn other DL iso of any kind without changing things."

A few questions on Backing up and Burning 360 games
Just read/watched all the tutorials on backing up and burning Xbox 360 games and I was hoping to get a confirmation to see if I got it all right...if that's OK.

Yes this is correctNeoRio wrote: * Use Xbox Backup Creator (currently 2.8 Build:0275) to backup the game.
Yes, leave it checkedNeoRio wrote:In the tutorial it says;

Both work perfectly fine. Cofree and I use ImgBurn simply because that's the way we did it the first time and it worked. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Sadalius on the other hand likes the fact that it's all done in one program and prefers to do it within XBC.NeoRio wrote:# Some people on this forum have said that they like to do everything in Xbox Backup Creator, dumping, burning and stealth checking. When you dump a game with XBC you get two files. One is the ISO and the other is a dvd file. If you choose the dvd file in ImgBurn it will set the layar break for you so you don't have to do it manually. If you use MS notepad to open the dvd file (you have to use drop down menu "all files") you will see what's on it. Very basic command file to set the layer break. That's it. Still reads as an ISO.NeoRio wrote:At the end of the ImgBurn Backup tutorial it says;

Re: A few questions on Backing up and Burning 360 games
jman is on the money
the only thing i would add
in img burn.the program will burn many things.if you go in and set the layer break.its set, thats it.(unless you go back and change it)
what that means is .if you go later to burn a DL dvd of something the "set layer break" can cause problems.
so when you burn a 360 game you just input the dvd file it uses that as the layer break "WITHOUT" it being set for good.
so you still can use the program for any other burning without having to worry about it.
by the way there is a new img burn out. v2.4
its in the download thread

Re: A few questions on Backing up and Burning 360 games
Thank you guys, I do appreciate your clear and good answers.
One last question: Should I do the SS and Stealth checking of the ISO before burning the game?--and then maybe check it again after the game is burned as well? (At what point will I know if the game dump was bad and needs to be redone...like you, CoFree have said that sometimes it's taken you up to 4 dumps to get a good game dump?--is it in the SS and Stealth checking that you discover if your ISO dump came out good?)
I think I understand now. I'll stick to your recommended use of the dvd file instead of the ISO when burning with ImgBurn so that I won't need to manually set the "Layer Break/User Specified" option to "1913760"Jman 31 wrote:If you choose the dvd file in ImgBurn it will set the layar break for you so you don't have to do it manually.

Re: A few questions on Backing up and Burning 360 games
Check it while its in your computer. That will tell you if you got a good dump or not. If you want to check the disk after you burn for shits and giggles then feel free. Never hurts to be overly cautious.

Re: A few questions on Backing up and Burning 360 games
So doing the SS and Stealth Checker on the ISO is how you see that you got a good rip?

Re: A few questions on Backing up and Burning 360 games
after i dump a iso
i then check with the ss checker just to make sure it has a good ss dump.
once ive burned it i dont check it.
i have 1 or 2 time just for the hell of it.

Re: A few questions on Backing up and Burning 360 games
OK, I am currently burning my first backup...using ImbBurn 2.4.0. By default the little checkbox right above the "big burn disc button" that says "verify" was checked...and so I left it checked...is that OK? I noticed that on your tutorial, Cofree, you had that button unchecked.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: A few questions on Backing up and Burning 360 games
i uncheck mine
my anydvd will mess up the verify any way
the way i look at it it just takes longer.if it a bad burn ill no soon enough with out the verify.

Re: A few questions on Backing up and Burning 360 games
OK...so it won't affect my current burn then? I'll uncheck it for future burns...and just let the Xbox 360 tell me if it was a good burn or not.
Thanks
P.S. CoFree...do you do a lot of your answers/posts from a Blackberry or mobile device? I noticed you answering somebody else just a few minutes ago and you said; "When I get home I'll check it out..." That might explain how you manage to answer so fast...at all hours...that is *if* have do some of your posting on the go with a mobile!
