LiteOn 74xxx series LT prob

Post by darrenp76 »

Hi everyone. Im trying to flash the newest LT firmware onto my Liteon 74xxx, I have a bead of solder across the 707 point, a ck3 kit connected and 6421 sata card. I have previously flashed this drive with Ixtreme firmware months ago w/jungleflasher.

When I turn on jungleflasher, I click the dvdkey extract button I get the 'Bad serial data' message. All the connections are good, the 707 point is good, driver is deleted (WinXP) and nothing has changed in terms of my PCs setup. My Liteon drive shows up and all of the data looks good except down by the dvdkey part it is not filled in.

I've been at this for hours...any suggestions??

as long as you have a copy of your dummy file from the first dump
use it as source firmware and then use the LT+ firmware as target
then just flash it in (after you put the drive back to normal without the solder bridge)
there is not reson to dump the drive again
also after you flash in the LT+ firmware or any LT firmware for that matter you cant dump the firmware without doing the mra trace cutting hack on the dvd drive.

Unfortunately I dont have the backup of the files due to a flood that destroyed everything in my basement. I should still be able to pull the keys off if it's flashed with ixtreme right?

yea
but i would try a different way
if you have ixtreme on the drive
then take the solder off and what ever else
put the drive back to normal
then when you open jungle flasher, you should be able to find the
dummy from ixtreme button
click that and it should dump your drive
if you have any if the LT formware on the drive then the only way to get you dump will be to do the mra hack to dump the drive
like the first part of this vid

Thanks Cofree. Now I have taken the solder off and when I put the tray half in and power it on the PC freezes.... I remember that I had to download a new driver and rename it to viamraid.sys I believe.... But I do not have that driver any more apparently. I just downloaded the 550c driver and renamed that but it didnt work.... Any suggestions?

have a read over This

you dont have to use a via card if your pc has onbo0 sata
it would be better to use that

I tried the onboard SATA and it's doing the same thing. If I power the drive half open it will freeze, if I just turn in on closed it doesnt. I have a feeling this may be a lost cause...

if your pc has onbo via chipset
it could give you trouble disabling the drives

are you sure it dont have a older LT firmware in it

that is not correct man ;)

once you install any of the LT firmware on a liteon drive you have to do the mra hack to dump that drive

I've tried everything and I've come to the conclusion that I must have updated it to LT at some point.

Is there a tut for the MRA hack w/ pics, etc.? I checked the archives but maybe I didn't look back far enough?

Thanks Cofree. I watched your vid and I also watched Shootsteel's tut on Youtube. Is the only difference between the two is you use a clothespin instead of the toggle switch, or is there something else?

Thanks for all of your help, Cofree. It turned out that it did indeed have LT firmware on it. I did everything according to your video, used DOSflash and I finally got the keys and flashed the drive. Thanks! :D
