Latest update - swapping profile between 2 machines

Post by Retrovertigo »

Can't find an answer to this anywhere. I have two machines, one offline for backups, and one online for originals. I always keep my online machine up to date and keep my backup machine on previous dash's until firmware problems are ironed out.

In the past this has caused an issue swapping profiles between machines. I haven't had problems in a while, but has anyone got 2 machines and has updated one of them to this weeks updated dash and can still swap profiles ok? Anyone with two machines will get where I'm coming from :)

Thanks for any help

Thanks for looking into it :)

Have to say I haven't had issues myself for a while now. But going back maybe 2 years, there was a dashboard version which for many people caused the profile to get corrupted when swapping between machines. Many threads appeared across the net with people having the same trouble. Luckily a later dashboard update sorted it.

It has just made me wary now whenever a new dashboard appears. And I'm desperate to update my online machine because I want to buy Bastion. Look forward to your response :)

Ive had a right carry on with all this lately, I tried moving profile across using xport 360, That didnt work no more, I tried recovering account, Initially I thought it had worked and I had all my save games. I was wrong, it left out my Tiger woods 12 where I had everything maxed and going for my 7th masters. I had my Fifa 11 though so wasnt too fussed, But Upon trying to keep recovering Ive now lost my Fifa and got my Tiger woods, I backed up the " E " folder to my desktop with all saves, Ive managed to get my Fifa save across but ingame its now saying its damaged.

P.S This is just a tiny bit of what Ive lost, Personally I would just wait till someone can provide a proper way of doing it so you dont lose anything.

nufcmickey: I think you are having a different issue. I'm talking about just having my profile on a usb stick and plugging it into two different machines, one with older firmware and one with the latest one, and hoping there are no issues (like I have had in the past)

Ah that's good to hear. To be honest I started doing just a profile swap on usb stick when some games started having the ap25 check etc. So I'd keep my stock machine bang up to date, but my backup machine was kept one dashboard version behind, so that backups stayed compatible until new firmware was available. It was swapping between 2 dashboard versions that had caused issues for some in the past. Just makes me wary as I'm loathe to update my backup machine at the moment with the problems people are having :)

Thanks for your replies!
