Xbox 360 sounds
My 360 makes a sound that I would compare to an object hitting a piece of metal or glass. It only makes this sound when I start to play a game so I know its the drive and it only does it between the time its loading and the first maybe 4-5 minutes in to the game. Usually makes the sound once or twice then after that it doesn't do it again no matter how long I play. Games don't seem to be scratched. Also I noticed it wont do it if I play a game for say an hour and shut the 360 down then come back and play another title or the same game. It seems to happen when I go a long period of time without playing or using my 360. Weird. Wonder if theres something wrong with drive? My 360 is laying flat, verbs for my backups 2.4x burn, ixtreme 8x and Benq drive. Thanx for reply in advance.
Re: Xbox 360 sounds
my advice would be reflash the benq drive and if using 8x then flash it with ixtreme 1.41 if it still makes that noise then reflash it but with 12x. if this does work restore the drive in its original firmware state. if all of this doesn't work it might be the hardware problem.
Re: Xbox 360 sounds
one of my 360 makes a small clicking sound.
as far as i know it just the laser looking for the disc/data
i mat reflash to the new firmware and the 12x speed just to see what happens.

Re: Xbox 360 sounds
Flashed it to 12x. I still get that weird noise as if something is lose in side the 360 but only for a second or two then it stops. Also as I stated before it only happens when I have the 360 off for a while.
Re: Xbox 360 sounds
i think its the laser then and is fairly common in the xbox's which came out first in year05/06. does this give a scratch on the cd like in a circular motion. if it is try changing the position of xbox as it may be vibrating. let us know how it goes.
Re: Xbox 360 sounds
Well my 360 was manufactured in December 2007 so I hope its not the laser. I will move the 360 over to another flat surface to see if that is the case. Seems weird it only does it for a second and then nothing. I'll keep you posted.
