cant fix rrod the usual ways ??

hi all, I have fixed many 360's with the rrod the usual ways ,replacing x clamps with screws and washers and cleaning up gpu and cpu so recently I got a few 360's with rrod thru ebay to fix with no luck. Is there anyway out of the ordinary to fix the rrod besides the obvious ? It looks like some amateur got the white paste all over the outside of the chips, I have tried to clean up as well as I could but still got the rrod. If I cant fix is there any sense to keep these piles of junk for parts ? All 3 drives are Toshiba's, I havent checked them yet but I have my doubts on them too. Any suggestions are appreciated .

if they are from ebay then ANYTHING could of been done with them, the seller could of over used a heat gun on them and completely fried them, you never know..
