Verizon Unveils New Wireless Broadband Service "HomeFusion" at $60/Month

HomeFusion is for remote/ rural homes that cannot obtain cable or DSL, or homes where DSL is the only fixed-line option

Verizon Wireless is launching a new wireless broadband service called HomeFusion that aims to provide remote homes with an alternative to cable or DSL.

HomeFusion, which starts at $60 per month for 10 GB of data, provides customers home Internet service through Verizon's 4G LTE network. It is ideal for remote/ rural homes that cannot obtain cable or DSL, or homes where DSL is the only fixed-line option, and it's expected to compete with satellite broadband providers, which are typically what rural homes are stuck with.

Rural/remote users could obtain HomeFusion through the installation of an antenna on an outside wall, where the hardware costs about $200. The work, however, is free.

The cheapest plan under HomeFusion is the $60/month for 10 GB plan, but Verizon plans to offer 20 GB for $90/month and 30 GB for $120/month as well. Verizon charges $10 per gigabyte if the user should happen to use more than the allotted amount. Users with the 10 GB plan would have a few hours of video (such as movies) per month and would also have to hold back on too many large software downloads as well.

According to Verizon, HomeFusion is about as fast as LTE data sticks, which is about 5 to 12 megabits per second for downloads and 2 to 5 megabits for uploads.

While companies like Clearwire Corp. offer services like Verizon's HomeFusion, they have limited rural coverage and some companies even restrict their services to one community. But Verizon is looking to initially launch the service in Nashville, Tenn., Dallas, Texas, and Birmingham, Ala., and hopes to spread HomeFusion to many other areas with LTE coverage by the end of 2012.

Well it's crap IMO.
$60 a month for 10gb haha what a joke
You can watch a handful of video shows or movies and your done for the month
$10 per gb over your amount, that is just horrible.
Hell my kids can watch 10gb on netfilcks in less than a day.
I had to double check to make sure this was not some kind of joke
but
it's for real

In the end only some one with no other choice would pick this as there in home internet.
it's junk.....
