HI, i just recieved the xbox with those lights. i didnt need a sorting out as it is working fine now, it had this hit 0059dj, he said the drive was not flashed so i just hit flash with the ixtreme. at the end in the ixtreme the message comes as the drive is flashed but not steath. restore the drive and then flash it with the ixtreme. now i take this as it was flashed before. have i screwed the drive or what. i did restore and then flashed it and it said 100 % complete.
first when i flashed it i named my folder x16s-23212 and then after the restore, i made a different folder as x16s 23211, both of them has now and was key same like different numbers.

will it play orig games or backups/
make sure to keep a copy of the key in more than one place.

basically i dont know if this drive was flashed before or not, the person who gave me the drive said that its a brand new drive never been flashed, so i click on flash in ixtreme hitachi. it said flashing done but is not stealth, so do a restore and then flash it again with the ixtreme to make it steath. so i did a restore after flashing the drive and then i flashed it again, so my question is, the drive bricked or is it flashed with ixtreme 1.4.

say if i put it this way, say if the hit drive was already flashed with a firmware like ixtreme 1.2 and then i forgot to do a restore and i hit flash, what would happen to the drive.

it could mess it up(but it should be ok.
you need to do a restore just to be safe.
if you did a restore then reflashed it it should be fine.

yes that is what i did, i restored it and flashed it and it said 100% complete at the end of flashing, and the key is also genuine. thanks cofree my £70 quid is safe. thanks

last question, if i just do a restore on even a brand new drive, which has never been flashed. would it affect it in any way or just dump the key. thanks again cofree for great help.

ok man
on the older hit drivers the key is not replaced when you do a restore or a flash.
the flash leaves the key alone and flashes the part of the firmware it needs to.
it then makes a copy of you key.
that is why when people do a bad flash on a older hit you can take the chip off and with a programmer get the key off.
because it is on the chip.
if you have a new (older) hit drive that has never been flashed and you do a restore on it all you are doing is putting the orig firmware over the orig firmware.it should not hurt anything.
the thing every time you flash something you have the chance of something happening during the flash to mess things up.
