PS3 Jailbreaking Question

Hello all,

Noob question. I am confused. I have a 3.55 FW PlayStation. I want to jailbreak it (obviously). Do I need a special USB or Dongle? Or does any USB FAT drive work?
I googled but received many responses. I only trust this site, lol.

I am confused between Dongles and USB Flash drives. I hear that a USB with CFW can be done and then install backup manager. Is this true, should I follow the tut I just referenced?

you have to mod your ps3 with a dongle
then after that you use a usb HD to put your games on
and play them from with a backup manger
it 2 different things

no dongle needed with 3.55FW

Just pick a 3.55CFW off your choice and update through the xmb or recovery mode using a normal usb stick

id go with kmeaws cfw personally

I was able to place 3.55 kmaew via usb flash. Nice and easy. Thanks to all for there input.

nt be able to do anything correct?

It has to be 3.55 or earlier, but later versions can be flashed back to 3.55 I believe...
