Using Xbox Backup Creator to Burn ISOs
Using Xbox Backup Creator to Burn ISOs
If I remember correctly, Sadalius uses XBC to burn his 360 game ISOs...instead of ImageBurn, is that correct? Sadalius, can you give me a few pointers for properly burning with XBC? ImageBurn needs to be installed onto the HD whereas XBC doesn't need to be installed and the less applications I install on my machine the better.
Thanks

Yeah, I use XBCr. Its pretty easy, but it doesn't support all DVD burners. The only way to tell if yours is supported is to try to burn a game out with it.
To use XBCr to burn with, just put in a blank dual layer, open XBCr, click on the write tab, make sure your burner is selected in the drop down, click the start button and navigate to the .dvd file for the game that you want to burn and select it. It should automatically start the burn for you. Tips and suggestions would be to burn at a slow speed, make sure and DVD/CD ripping software other than XBCr is.

A couple more questions:
- Should I leave it set to SPTI?
- Writing Speed: There is no 2.4x option (like CoFree suggests with his ImgBurn tutorial), there is only 2x, is 2x the speed you use?
- Under Xbox ISO Type, do you leave it set to "Auto Detect", or set it to "360"?
- Under Burn Engine, do you leave it set to "XBC"?
- When you navigate to the ISO to burn, is it best to select the .DVD file over the .ISO file?

If you can, switch it to ASPINeoRio wrote:

2x is what I use. It's a little slow, but you get better burns.NeoRio wrote: [*]Writing Speed: There is no 2.4x option (like CoFree suggests with his ImgBurn tutorial), there is only 2x, is 2x the speed you use?

I select the .dvd file. XBCr will allow you to use either one though.NeoRio wrote: [*]When you navigate to the ISO to burn, is it best to select the .DVD file over the .ISO file?[/list]

Yes, XBC 2.8.0 lets you choose between SPTI and ASPI. I have left it set to the default of SPTI for ripping the games (as I believe that's what it was set to on CoFree's tutorials)...would you recommend switching it to ASPI for both ripping and burning?sadalius wrote:If you can, switch it to ASPINeoRio wrote:

Re: Using Xbox Backup Creator to Burn ISOs
I like ASPI just a little bit better than ASPI, but in some cases, depending on how your burner is connected to the computer, it won't let you select ASPI. But most people connect their burner straight to the computer by IDE or SATA connection, some people use an external USB burner and this is where you can't use ASPI. All other commercial burning programs make the selection automatically behind the scenes. Some even come with their own brand of aspi, like nero burning rom. Even XBCr comes with Frog ASPI.

Re: Using Xbox Backup Creator to Burn ISOs
So just to clarify...you suggest setting it to ASPI when doing the 360 game rips as well?

Re: Using Xbox Backup Creator to Burn ISOs
It's just a personal preference. ASPI and SPTI actually does the same thing, just goes about it in a different manner. But yes, I prefer ASPI.

Re: Using Xbox Backup Creator to Burn ISOs
FWIW I thought I'd mention that I ran into some trouble burning with XboxBackupCreator yesterday. I tried twice to burn a backup and the computer froze when I hit the "Start" button. I rebooted, tried again and the same thing, the computer froze. I tried ImgBurn and it worked fine. A few days ago I successfully did a burn or 2 using XBC, but for some reason it gave me trouble this time around. That made me steer more towards ImgBurn in the larger scope of things.

I use xbc to rip and Imgburn to burn. Haven`t had any problems yet.

Its really just a matter of what works for you. The modding scene is a whole bunch of experimenting. What your doing is something that wasn't meant to be done so you have to find what works for you. Not every computer or game console was created equal so what works for me may or may not work for you. XBCr works for me for reading and writing so thats what I use.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
I've found that certain (cheap) disks didn't work with XBC either. Seemed to have problems setting LB, so I stick to ImgBurn for burning

Re: Using Xbox Backup Creator to Burn ISOs
Yeah, as much as I like the idea of doing everything with XBC, it seems the burning capabilities of dedicated burning s/w might be a tiny bit more stable. I did manage to burn one good copy with XBC, but the next day (and after re-installing Windows), when I hit the "record" button on XBC, it froze my computer. I had to restart and I tried again...had the same result. I installed ImgBurn and all went well.

Re: Using Xbox Backup Creator to Burn ISOs
ImgBurn is all I use for image files. I've never had any coasters because of the program. CloneCD sucks, too few options. ImgBurn has a ton of options, including the ability to booktype through the program. It also has the ability to auto set write speeds by Media ID. I set one MKM ID to 4x and I never have to select the write speed again. 4x burns have always worked for me. They take about 25 minutes to burn in ImgBurn. ImgBurn supports dvd files fine, you can drag and drop the dvd file into ImgBurn and it will pickup the Layer Break fine and set the L0 perfectly.

Re: Using Xbox Backup Creator to Burn ISOs
whats the difference between aspi and stpi. i think my samsung ts-h943 is stpi. im ripping my game iso from my game disc and its going at 16KB/second is that normal or should i be extremly worried? i read a thread from afterdawn of people complaining that their iso took 1 and 1/2 hours to finish on xbc? they have to be talking about burning the iso to disk right? am i right or is it just that my hard drive speed sucks and thats why its taking so long? omg im desperate to find out.
