Firmware Speeds?
Hi all, at the risk of sounding very stupid i would like to know what the firmware speeds in the iXtrenme files refer to? I have always used 12x for all drives but would like to know if there are any advantages or disadvantages using diffrent speeds. Look forward to a reply, Thanx.

Re: Firmware Speeds?
I use 12x for all of mine because its what comes stock on the drive. It may run a little quieter on a slower speed, but your load times will be a little longer. Thats about it.

Thanks for the rapid reply, i will continue to use the 12 then if thats what stock drives have. Thanks again

Re: Firmware Speeds?
The lower the number, the slower the drive reads. If you chose 12x, then the drive will read at 12x, which is stock. If you chose 5x then the drive would read around 40% slower. The pro's and the cons would be at the slower speed, the drive would be more quite, but you would probably see some read errors. At the faster speed, the drive would be noisier, but would have far less read errors.

Thanks for your reply sadalius, will keep using the 12 speed. I know most people use this speed. If it aint broke don't fix it or fix it and then it will be broke!!! i guess is the motto here. Thanx again
