Newb to backing up games help please

Post by ogameaddict »

I did the research and went to a hundred lame sites til I found Robinhood's Playground (you kick ass by the way) tutorials, all the software, everything one needs its beautiful. So now I just went thru the whole swaptrick tutorial and my first backup is burning as we speak, but then I see threads about specific readers and writers, will the swaptrick only work with specific readers and writers? Sorry if its listed elsewhere, I looked around but didn't see a specific thread. I'm using a brand new Sony DL burner I checked the iso I made with mullet and the easy backup creator and it all passed...

most all dvd drives will dump but the hot swap.then you have to fix with mulleter.
you do have to have a DL burner to burn with.

I would tell you not to get on live with a backup made by the hot swap. ;)

Thanks and my first back up just finished and plays perfectly I really have to say that this site rocks and I will be sending links to all my friends with 360s I have a friend who searched for those 2 specific readers/burners to avoid the swaptrick method for 9 months on ebay and shelled out tons of dough for that crap and will only use Verbatim and believes them to be the only possible ones to use. I am so glad I found this site before dumping all that time and money into this. Thanks Robin Hood!!!

well man
make no mistake.
i think the only way to play a backup on live is if you dump it with a sh-d162c dvd drive in your computer.even though you could still get banned it is by FAR the safest way.
then yes verbatim disc are the best to use.

glad you like the site man.
the guys and I do our best :D

I use a second console and original games to play online, believe it or not, I only modded my xbox to backup games that I own Im tired of them getting scratched up and getting disc errors, I have little kids that just wont stop playing with my disc booklets and xbox lol so this way they can trash the burns and play with the modded 360 and i wont have to rebuy the games. I havent even attempted to burn games that I don't own and I refuse to download them I know microsoft is the enemy but what about the third party companies that developed the games, their hard work and time should be paid for, I don't mind people doing what they want, but I personally will be one of those that contribute legitamately. So far Ive only made 1 coaster using Sony +R DL disks and a Sony burner and that was using the swap method trying to backup Mass Effect it just doesn't want me to get that one !?!?!!?

ps in the tutorial for using the swap method and Xdvd mulleter you put a link thats supposed to take you to a tutorial for using img burn to burn the backups but it only takes you to the download page, is there a Tut for using Imgburn, I didn't see one
just wondering, DVD decrypter seems to work fine but img burn is a better program from what I heard

Most if not all the staff and I are with you on that.
I have 2 small girls.They can trash a $60.00 in record time.
It's so bad i have to get on them to be careful with the backups .im tired of paying the $2.00 a piece for them.(and the work to burn a new backup.

So I went to ebay and bought a SH-D162D Drive and it has Kreon firmware, I used XboxBackup Creator to back up Command and Conquer 3, and I checked the iso after it finished and it passed all the stealth checks and appears to be a good rip or dump lol new to the slang :) then I open ImgBurn and select the DVD file for the backup and hit burn, but it stops me after a few seconds and says it cannot get exclusive access to the drive access denied, and the options, retry, cancel, and continue. what is this? any ideas or can i just hit continue and not worry about it?

restart your comuter
do not start any programs and see if it will work.

you are seeing that because something(a program) is talking to your dvd burner and img burn dont like it.
img burn needs to be the only program talking to the burner.
if you have a copy right breaker program running turn it off or disable it.
dont start any programs other than img burn

your almost there man ;)

You mean like AnyDVD right, I closed it before i ran ImgBurn, do things like VirtualDrives and CloneDrives communicate with the burner also? I restarted like you said and made sure AnyDVD wasn't running but it still said ImgBurn couldn't get exclusive access to the drive, I will try to close everything thanks for your help again

PS I am positive this is the best site and forum for these resources and help, I have never had to wait more than a few minutes for a response to posts and everything I need is right here, I really appreciate that and was wondering if there was anything I could do to contribute to making the site better (not that its lacking) but Id like to show my appreciation so if theres anything I can do let me know

well there is something in your dl burner that img burn dont like.
find it and close it down.
yes anydvd is one that will cause a problem but there are others .
you could ctrl/alt/del
and see what processes are running.if something that sees or talks to the burner is running, stop it.

you may try moving the dvd file and the iso into its on folder on the desktop.

thanks for the offer man
right now things are going good.
just hang out some and maybe post up if you see some one having trouble.

the staff and I thank you for the offer and kind words :D

Send cash to jman_31@robinhoods playground.com. Naw just kiddin' thats not even a real address!  Just help out when you feel pretty confident that you know the right answer. Cofree and others put a crap load of time into this site, and they can use all the help you can give 'em.

Well I know tons about the PSP I have hard modded my own Pandora battery and Magic Memory stick and modded over 60 PSPs with no complaints so far, so maybe I can help out there :) Thanks again guys for your help, with all the forums and sites that claim to have the best information and resources for modding consoles and backing up games, Robin Hood's Playground isn't bogged down with a bunch of nonsense and people claiming to have the answers to problems etc. Keep it up I hope to contribute in my own way to Fighting Tyranny in a Technological Nottingham!!!
