whats a good upgrade laser for samsung

i want to replace my samsung laser with a better one. mine is reading slow and keeps telling me to clean disc (my discs are brand new and flawless as far as i can see). i just want to know where i can purchase a better. are all lasers compatable? thanks for the help..

no there are only 2 (i think) it could be just one.

most of the time its just better to replace the whole dvd drive or do the pop tweak on yours.
ive not replaced one myself so im not 100% about it.

ok so i had a previously bricked 360, i fixed the ring of death and then after a week the drive kept freezing on me. so feeling defeated i went and bought another 360, leaving me with a extra 360 that could still possibly work. so i read the pot tweak tutorial and thought what the hell. so i opened the drive and located the dvd rehostat and read the ohmic value of the rehostat 4.2k ohms was the reading (im using a digital mutimeter) i adjusted the pot to 3.3 and hooked it all back up and the 360 played like new even loaded a little faster. in all it took me 30 minutes at the most to perform the calibration. this was on the hitachi drive. my new 360 with a samsung drive is starting to give me the dirty disc error and im thinking its the same problem but ill try a few more games before i try it on that one. will post again if i perform the calibration on the samsung drive.
great tutorial easy to perform but as always take extreme caution.

that fix is the last thing you want to try.

I agree. I've done the POT tweak a few times but it's a crap shoot.

If it's new you should probably try cleaning the laser lens first. You would be surprised how many systems I have fixed by simply cleaning the lens. A little rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip. Be gentle.

well it may have worked for you but not for me. everytime my laser stops working, that is the first thing i do which you described but it never worked for me but yeah its a possibility and should be tried precautiously.
