lost original firmware benq
Hi Champs, I feel disgraceful and disappointed in the hackers community.I did not backup my BenQ-OFW.BIN file and feel like lost the sky's from the heavens. I have used i-prep on the USB Flash Drive and did not copy the Original Firmware File. Can someone help how to retrieve my original firmware. If any xbox 360 repair services can help me in this. I m based in Dubai. Much appreciating your help in Advance Champs & Guru's.Thanks Sanjay Benjamin sanjaybenjamin@gmail.com

We will need a little more info to help you. what did you do to lose the orig. fw? Have you used the flashdrive since you did the fw dump? Give us a little info, maybe we can help. Iprep makes a copy of the orig fw on the flash drive do you still have that?

Re: lost original firmware benq
Hi, Thank you for responding me. I feel like a ray of hope somewhere. I am confident i will get solution from this forum. iprep had made the copy of the original firmware in the backup folder the first time i used to flash the benq drive. It then gave error 0X71F and the pc freezed so i tried again and againa and again the same process. THE STATUS NEVER CHANGED TO D1.
I thought of restarting the process again and made a new iprep in the same usb drive. The problem here is i never took a backup of the first iprep. so the second iprep made a new copy and i lost the original firmware.
Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!sanjay

Did you try to do a read again? Did you check the flash drive to make sure there was no orig fw. This doesn't sound good man. If you can't recover the key then chances are its toast. I'm not sure if redoing iprep completely erases the existing info or not. You might want to check the hacked fw with fwtoolbox (found in the download section) and see if its been over written. Here is a fwtoolbox tut. viewtopic.php?f=110&t=349" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: lost original firmware benq
see if it will play dvd movies.
i bet it will.
then you said that it wont plat a orig 360 game.
if that is the case then you could be in trouble.
i would do as jman said and try to dump the firmware again and see what it is.open it with firmware toolbox v4.6 and see if there is a key there .
it has to be different letters and numbers for it to be a good key.If it a lot of the same letter or numbers then it a bad key.
If that is the case then with out a backup of your orig firmware or a copy of your dvd drive key.It over man.You have a dvd player
game over
sorry
ps
i moved this post to the right place.

Re: lost original firmware benq
That's the first step of the flashing process. First you do a read (dump) of the original fw. and then iprep builds a hacked fw that is used in the second step to flash the drive. I don't remember the command for the benq, but it will be the first command that you enter in dos after the drive has been recognized by you computer.

Re: lost original firmware benq
Hi Champs, thank you for all your support and help. I have gone through all of this video's and textbook but failed in saving the original firmware. I have used Data Recovery Software to extract the lost files from my USB Flash Disk and found about thousands of files, this software even recovers files after formating of the USB disk, but now in a position where i dont know which one is my Benq DVD Key. Can someone help in identifying how does a key look like ? In what format it is saved as so i can copy it in notepad. Please help me.

Re: lost original firmware benq
Its probably going to be a 256 kb file that will be saved in a backup folder. In the backup folder will be a file with the first seven numbers that you entered for your ser.#. Inside that folder will be another folder with the second five numbers that you entered. The 256 kb file should be in there.
