I tried to get the passkey but I think the PCB is dead because when I use the new pcb the drive reading discs but when I replacing the old pcb to the new drive the drive not reading.

I tried to use the old drive with the pcb of him but some wire in the drive scratched and the drive not working.

you have to have your key from your orig 360 dvd drive.
as long as you have that key.
Then yes you can flash a hit v78 without a passkey.
there is a software flash for the hit v78.
to flash a hit v78 drive you will use slax cd while your 360 dvd drive is hooked to your computer to get the dvd drive into modeB

you only need the passkey if you have a hit v79 dvd drive .
putting on/in a passkey is the only way to dump your orig firmware from the v79 dvd drive.

there is a difference in a "key" and a "passkey"
keep that in mind.

CoFree is right. If you have a hitachi 78, you don't need a passkey. In fact installing a passkey could have bad results for the drive, I'm not sure exactly what, but it definitely isn't needed for the 78's. Only the 79's need a passkey.

Everything else is exactly what CoFree said in his post.
