Dumping Firmware
Dumping Firmware
If I just wanted to dump the hacked firmware of my BENQ drive, to check if its the latest version, would I have to do it the same way as flashing a drive, but just not doing the 'fBen' part. Is that right?
Thanks

Re: Dumping Firmware
Yep. Just do the first command, and then get it off of the flash drive.

i would just add.
that after you get the dump firmware from your backup folder. You will need to open it with firmware toolbox v4.6
and it will tell you what firmware you have

Re: Dumping Firmware
I get this error message when i click on PREPARE DESTINATION in iprep after i have selected my target USB.
It says: Operation failed
The following error occured.
System.IO.IOEception: The volume does not contain a recognised file system. Please make sure that all required files system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.
Whats wrong here and how do i sort this out.
Cheers

Re: Dumping Firmware
did you put in a hack firmware when you went to build the usb flash.
your not going to use it but you need to put in a firmware.

Re: Dumping Firmware
Yes, i did put in the benq hack firmware in and then ticked those 2 boxes and then selected target drive and prepare destination, then I get that error.
Re: Dumping Firmware
I think if you tick both boxes, you'll need to put in the hacked samsung firmware as well as the benq. You can safely leave patch mtkflash unchecked if all your going to mess with is benq's. Try that and see if that makes any difference.

Still the same problem with both firmwares in.
Re: Dumping Firmware
are you using the same iprep that you flash with orig.
Re: Dumping Firmware
No, i DIDNT flash this one myself (but it has hacked fw on it), thats why im dumping the firmware to check if it has the latest benq hacked firmware on it. Im using the lates verion of iprep (iprep 101 v006).
Re: Dumping Firmware
Well, its harping about the volumes file system. You are choosing the USB stick or what ever your going to be using to boot to when clicking the prepare destination button right?? If so, have you tried making a backup of the contents and formatting it?

Re: Dumping Firmware
Thanks guys for helping me, ive sorted out the problem, it was coz my USB stick wasnt working properly, so I had to use another USB.
Just wanted to ask ask a question, now that ive dumped my benq hacked firmware, i opened the backup folder to check the 'OFW' and 'CFW', is the 'CFW' the original custom firmware or is it just another version of the custom firmware named as 'OFW', as i didnt have the original for this xbox 360.
I did check the 'OFW' in the FIRWWARE tool and it gave me this in ROM Version:- Benq-VAD6038-64930C- [Iextreme v1.1B]
So is this my official original firmware for this benq drive or is it just made up (both the keys are the same in 'OFW' and 'CFW')?

Re: Dumping Firmware
OFW is the original firmware for the BenQ, CFW is the custom firmware created from the original firmware with your drive key. I believe the most current version of the BenQ iXtreme Firmware is 1.41. Make several backups of your ofw and cfw files so as to have your drive key available if you intend to flash the BenQ to the most recent version of iXtreme.
