unreadable/uplayable/open tray error

Post by KASS »

Ok, all my backups are compatable with the iXtreme 1.4 and are mostly all totally stealth, some fail the split-vid test.

I flashed the hacked firmware on a hitachi 0078FK dvd-rom and all the backups work great. Yay.

But now I've flashed hacked firmware onto a hitachi GDR3120L v46,(2005) and every single backup gives me either the unreadable/unplayable/open tray error. Regular origional games/movies work fine.

btw I am using verbatim dvd+r dl discs burnt with image burn at 2.4x. any ideas, should I try the pot tweak? replace the laser or what? thanks for listening.

well i hate to say it but thats what it sounds like to me.the pot tweak may fix this.
the older hit drives can be picky

if the pot tweak dont fix it then i would just get a new dvd drive for it.
im not big on the laser replace thing.it can be done.ive just found that i can find a dvd drive for not much more the the laser.

before i did all that i would restore the drive (make sure it plays orig)
then flash a different dvd read speed 12x speed if that is not the one you used.

I have a hitachi 47 that does the same thing. They are much more susceptible to media and burn issues. Use only verbs and burn and dump slow. Still no guarantee. If that doesn't help, then definitely pot tweak, new laser or new drive.

OK, the hitachi GDR3120L rom 47 is officially bricked, but I have the orig firmware dump.. so I got a valid key.

Now if I want to use a new benq VAD6038 I have to dump the firmware off the benq, replace the key, and spoof to hitachi GDR3120L rom 47, but do I use the ixtreme 1.41 benq or hitachi firmware? Thanks

you will have to use the drive firmware that is good(benQ).Then spoof the benq firmware where is will report as a hit v47

you can never put a firmware that is not for that drive.

if you have a bad hit drive.
i would like to tear it apart if you are going to just trash it. ;)

Yes - dump drive/create hacked firmware, then inject your key & spoof it with fw toolbox - then flash ;)

Good job Kass. Once you figure out how the 360 works with the DVD drives, they aren't that hard to deal with, considering you have the right equipment to dump and flash with, which obviously you do :D
