I would of reccomended flashing @ 12x (thats the standard speed)monkeyfacedave wrote:Thank you CoFree and MsK and everyone else for your help...
The drive was flashed at 8x because my friend said that was for maximum compatibility. He believes it was the latest firmware.
So is everything normal then? Because it just seems to hang for a LONG time between levels and loading saved games.
Thank you again,
David
All you can do is follow the check list I posted earlier - focus on eliminating the simplest things 1st like re-burning another disc @ 2.4x etc. ... if the problem is still there then you can consider checking your hardware or re-flashing your xbox drive to 12x
I would definatly try running another backup of a different game & see if the problem still exhists & also if possible try your disc in your friends xbox - if you have the same problem on his box you have narrowed it down to the disc or the burner

I hope u solve it - Keep us informed

There is a shortlist of reasons as to why he could be having problems - which are:
Those are the prime list of candidates - it's a process of elimination really.
- The firmware used is running at low speed (below 12x)
- The burner used is failing (i don't rate those NEC's... pioneer all the way for me)
- The backup was burnt above 2.4x
- The discs / or disc in question is poor quality / or damaged/scratched
- The xbox drives laser is failing
