Bioshock Backup loads saved games slowly
I just backed up my first game, Bioshock, and the game runs fine but it loads SAVED games slowly... and when I put back in my original disk, it loads at the correct speed again.
Am I doing something wrong? The game seems to play fine....
I burned the disk with my NEC -2310A DVD-RW drive and I am using verbatim DVD+R disk.
Thank you for the help!

Re: Bioshock Backup loads saved games slowly
I have played it some more and it loads slowly when going to a next level within the game also.... not just loading a saved game.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you.
David

MsK, do you mean the drive in the XBOX 360 or my computer drives?MsK wrote:what firmware & speed is your drive flash at?
Re: Bioshock Backup loads saved games slowly
he is wanting to know what speed firmware flash you/your friend flash in the 360 dvd drive.
if you flashed in a slower speed it will take longer to load and read the disc.

Re: Bioshock Backup loads saved games slowly
But he's saying that the original loads faster than the copy. Wouldn't a slower FW read speed affect both originals as well as copies?--I would think so.

Re: Bioshock Backup loads saved games slowly
Yes you would think so but it would be nice to know if the flashed drive is using a slow speed.NeoRio wrote:But he's saying that the original loads faster than the copy. Wouldn't a slower FW read speed affect both originals as well as copies?--I would think so.
There is a shortlist of reasons as to why he could be having problems - which are:
- The firmware used is running at low speed (below 12x)
- The burner used is failing (i don't rate those NEC's... pioneer all the way for me)
- The backup was burnt above 2.4x
- The discs / or disc in question is poor quality / or damaged/scratched
- The xbox drives laser is failing

you you will read over the post below there are some questions we need answered
and
we will see what we can do.
Re: Bioshock Backup loads saved games slowly
With all due respect, I was not posting a question. Your initial answer to David wasCoFree wrote:man if you will, stop jumping in on thread to post a question
...when his initial post stated that when he puts original discs in the machine, it does not go slow, only with his backup. I thought you had misunderstood his problem."if you flashed in a slower speed it will take longer to load and read the disc."

Re: Bioshock Backup loads saved games slowly
ok man i got you
nuff said.
A lot of time a orig will load faster than a backup. the laser has a harder time reading the dye layer on a backup
on a orig there is a foil layer that the iso is burned on.the layer will see this easier.
(no not all orig disc have this foil layer)
monkeyfacedave
sorry man we have totally hijacked your thread.
let us know the info and we will see what we can do.
this is what i was looking at.NeoRio wrote:Wouldn't a slower FW read speed affect both originals as well as copies?--I would think so.

Re: Bioshock Backup loads saved games slowly
Thank you CoFree and MsK and everyone else for your help...
The drive was flashed at 8x because my friend said that was for maximum compatibility. He believes it was the latest firmware.
So is everything normal then? Because it just seems to hang for a LONG time between levels and loading saved games.
Thank you again,
David

Re: Bioshock Backup loads saved games slowly
well 12x speed is the same as the orig firmware.
the slower the firmware speed you flash in the longer it will take to load
if this is only happening with this one backup
then it could be the backup.
there are a lot of people that use the 8x speed
