Is stead of soldering people have been using paper clips, screwdrivers, solder pens and other metal devices to make the bridge. I have seen a couple drives that people have tried to solder and ruined their drive. I wanted to throw that out as an option, you seemed a little reluctant to solder as would I.

Yup, I've used the screwdriver method myself

I have a probe, but I think next time i get one to flash, I'll try this just for kicks...

success!!! did my first lite-on drive like an hour ago. . . no solder, i just held a screwdriver to bridge the connection. cofree, good looking out once again. . . !!!
