a dvd drive that is flash with 0800
you then hook it up to your computer not the console.
what he was saying is that if your put a dvd drive in a console with 0800 and power the console it could log the fact that it has that firmware and report it the next time the console gets on live.

0800 mode is a special mode available through the hacked firmware only. The xbox would log it and when you did connect to xbox live, the log would then be transmitted to microsoft.
Simply put, the 0800 firmware or disk is only used for two things now. One is making backups, the other is unlocking the drive so it can be flashed if for some reason the traditional unlocking methods don't work.

You might not get banned. Did you try to play backups with it while it was in the console? If not, then it has nothing to log and you should be ok.

Sounds like another "gut swap" on the way.
If you get banned that is.

Sorry to jack like this, but i just cant find what i'm looking for anywhere.
I noticed 'The Backslash' had attached his benq 0800 FW, but i was wondering is where i can find the 0800 firmware needed for my samsung ms28 to be able to rip originals to my PC.
Any help/criticism/noob-calling with a side of sarcastic answer would be appreciated.
by the way, great site and thanx for the iPrep 8.8 tutorials cofree.

try using the xbins autodownloader. It's available in our downloads section. It will connect you to a special IRC channel and then finally into an FTP session to where you can download the 0800 firmware, amongst other things. Careful not to download to many files or alot of big files or you'll get banned for a period of time.

thank you very much sadalius and cofree.
just to be certain; the 0800 iso can now be burned to a DL dvd, and then when played by my samsung ms28 drive will be flashed to read/rip an original disc when connected via SATA to my PC, correct?

if your going to use it to rip with, you'd be better off flashing the drive with the 0800.bin for samsungs instead of using the disk. It's kind of tricky to get it in 0800 mode using the disk on occasion but you can try it, it may work great for you.
