i start JF, goto the MTK tab, click "read" and I get "getting status from port 0xb800 - invalid status"

however, the drive is listed under drive properties it sees a drive with firmware 6243

sounds like you need to make sure the drive is halfway open/closed, so the benq unlock can do it's thing...

I would be looking into trying it on a different computer. Looks like you got a good dump, but it seems to be hanging up at unpredictable times. That could be bad once you got into the actual flashing part.

the tray is half open closed, i have tried many different configurations

as for another PC.. yes it is looking like that is the only option.. dammit! got one i can build here so will try that

i just ran again and it aborted dben due to already being dumped

could i not just proceed in jungleflasher now i have my orig FW? obv i am just about to test it in firmwaretools to make sure its ok

thanks guys

yes sadalius is right
and
with all this back and forth
make damn sure you have a backup of your dvd drive key before you flash.
you may want to try a different flash drive
it can do things like this.
or
even try a floppy if you computer has one.

once again
make sure you have a good key in what ever firmware you are going to flash in.
and also
a backup of that key. :!: :!: :!: :!:

Make sure that you check your BIOS settings to make sure that it's set to boot from your USB flash drive. Some BIOS's are different and have a couple of settings that has to be changed before it will boot from it. Some are as simple as hitting the button for your boot menu and choosing the USB flash drive from the menu.

You might even try using jungleflasher too.

i power cycle the drive and the status keeps flicking between

when you dump
after the dump dont turn the computer off
it will take a long time for firmtool to run and build your hacked firmware.
wait for it 3 or 4 min some times.
untill you see firmtool run with green and you check the key dont flash that console

AHHHH MAN

OMFG this is a joke!!

i run it fine, dosflash runs fine.. however.. after i get reading finished there is an error

insufficiemt disk space! i mean WTF

then the text goes red, firmtool does not work due to the benowf.bin not existing!

i am going to cry in a minute!!

only thing i can think of is to edit the batch file and change COPY to MOVE

however, move is not a recognised command so i am have to gonna find that from somewhere
