I've always burned at 4x on Verb DL DVD+R's and never had any issues with my burn quality. It's different for everybody's setup, there is no universal safe burn speed. I'm very particular with how I burn. I have zero extraneous items running in memory, disable everything except my AV, use task manager to make sure my CPU usage is below 3% and to make sure there are no unnecessary programs running, then I burn all image files with ImgBurn. Using that method I burn at 8x on 8x and 16x media, and 4x on DL media with less than a 1% coaster rate. I should add that I only use quality media, Taiyo Yuden's for DVD-5, Verbatim for DVD-9. I can't guarantee those burn speeds will work with low quality media or for everybody's setup.

I've never had a problem, I've used Verbatims, they are my preferred dual layer disk. I've also used Sony dual layer disks. I like those too, but still like verbs the best. I think the reason that I've never had a problem is because of all the DL media that I've burned, they were all 2.4x rated disks, so I've never been able to burn faster than 2.4x. Now with single layer disks, I've burned games for the xbox and the wii and I've burned them at 16x without a problem, but like Sesshomaru, I shut down everything I can and make sure my cpu usage is minimal. But, to keep the possibilty of a coaster down, I burn at 8x on dvd5's.

Usually the verbs I get are rated up to 6x, I honestly didn't know Verb started outsourcing stuff to Singapore til I read it here. Sure enough the latest batch of Verb DL's I got is from Singapore. As long as they continue to use MKM dyes I don't think there will be any quality issues. I noticed Sony had outsourced their DVD-5's to Malyasia as well as Taiwan. I've never been a big fan of the Sony Media ID, I just buy Sony when I know it's going to be Taiyo Yuden, which is rare anymore. A lot of people swear by the Sony Media ID, but my PS2 never liked it and I never have any issues with TY's, so I trust them implicitly.

Thank goodness for burning at 8x on 8x discs, 4x seems archaic for single layer discs anymore.

when you play a backup it plays just like the orig.
you have to take the updates(which will be on the backup disc) and game play is the same.

I have another question about the flashing progress. when it says "Type in the following command, using your Xbox 360 serial number found on the back of the Xbox 360 case. (we’ll use the serial number 1234567 12345 as an example) dBen 1234567 12345" is there any spaces. i just want to know to be on the safe side/ :D

in your example, there would be a space between dben, 1234567 and 12345. If you type it in exactly as you typed it in your question, you will be alright. And make sure not to use any quotation marks.

You can get them for $2 a disc on sites like http://www.newegg.com http://www.supermediastore.com http://www.meritline.com

I typically use newegg and supermediastore, meritline is always ridiculous with the shipping.
