Nope. data can't travel across the power cord. Only basic commands like eject travel across the power cable.

then i should be fine right? no sata to xbox and no disc in tray-- im good right?

yeah, you should be good on that then. I thought when you said you had the drive connected, you had sata and power connected up. Sorry bout that.

no its fine id rather be safe than sorry- i was really bored yesterday and wanted to see if i could pull it off without a ck3

in other words- my box will be closed tight for a good few months =)

sadalius you said that hotplugging might work, i didnt try that i just had it connected with sata then powered it with the xbox when i was in windows...

what are some other methods i could try, i really want to see if this will work for me...

plus I'm bored :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

There are two other things that you can try.
1. Power everything off. Turn on the benq drive, boot the computer. Try to make a backup.
2. Order a connectivity kit to power the drive and try that. Doesn't have to be a CK3, any cheap connectivity kit will work for this purpose with a benq.

as far as i know
the xbox will not stay on as long as needs be to dump a game.
the console will only stay on a few min with the sata unplugged.
so you need to get a connectivity lit of some kind. :?
