I'm tring to get this psp 1001 to play iso games i keep getting error code "prx type error" . it has 5.00m33-6 installed and a pandora led battery this is where i'm stuck, if anyone can help it would be very much appreciated....

Thanks for moving this to the correct spot, I'm still lost in this it seems I can't get it to ,i guess, "upgrade" to any of the gen, from what i've seen around alot of people got this to work

i know this is a old post but looks like it was never answered the only thing i can think of is this:
boot into Recovery mode, go to Advanced > Advanced Configuration and disable both options listed here. Otherwise, you'll get an "unsupported PRX type" error every time you try to load the game.

plain modules in UMD/ISO (Disabled)
Execute BOOT.Bin in UMD/ISO (Disabled)
