Drive Flashing question

if u replace your dvd drive, can u flash the new drive the same way? or do you need to enter a different serial number or anything else?

If you buy a new drive from ebay or another xbox 360 place, you have to spoof the drive. Which means taking the drive key from the original drive and combine it with the firmware and add it to the new drive. This process can brick your drive!!! Please be careful. I will try and locate a tutorial on here for you, just give me some time today.

is there a way you can tell if the drive is not the original? are there any numbers on it that match the back of the 360?
