Error Loading FW With iPrep 101-006.1

Post by NeoRio »

I'm following your tutorial, preparing the iXtreme FW using iPrep but I get an error.

I even moved the iPrep utility to the desktop as well as the Firmware itself...so that I'd be doing it exactly like you do in the tutorial.

I'm using iPrep 101-006.1 and the BenQ 1.4.1 Firmware

iPrep opens fine, but when I click on "Load Firmware" and point it to the 1.4.1 FW, I get this error message:
Unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Could not find a part of the path 'F:\.....\iPrep 101-006.1\Resources\ixDef.xml'.
So I figure it has to do with the little folder path, but I'm not sure if I am supposed to create a folder called Resources, or something like that? does this sound like a familiar problem?

I noticed that in your tutorial, the FW seemed like it was RAR'ed when you opened it with iPrep...is that the best way to do it?

Thanks

first open iprep go under tools and check for a update.

then if your computer does not have a floppy.you will need to go into your bios and turn OFF the floppy drive.
let me know how you get on.

I do have a floppy...so there should be no trouble there.

OK, I opened iPrep, went to Tools and then Checked for Updates. I got the same error message as before...which ends in: "Could not find a part of the path 'F:\Programs\Xbox 360\iPrep 101-006.1\Resources\ixDef.xml'.

OK, this one works. I had to install it though...the earlier versions of iPrep just opened without having to be installed.

Do I need to to un-RAR the ixDef file?--or can I just leave the RAR archive together with the RAR'ed 1.4.1 FW?

The FW itself loads up fine into iPrep from the RAR archive, no need to extract it.

yep your right
it will go right from the rar file
then you just pick the speed you want.
i would go with 12x or 8x
i use 12x that is the speed the console came with stock.

I will use the 12x speed. What about the ixDef file...do I need to extract that out of the RAR file?--where would I need to put it?

no no man

you will only mess with a def file to update iprep for a new firmware.
now you dont even have to do that all you have to do is go to tools and check for update.
being that the firmware loaded into iprep you are good to go.
if you need to update the def file it will not load the firmware into iprep.

a big thanks to klutsh for that :D

i think it does not really matter if you have floppy turned on or off. i know it will give any error saying usb drive open but i just click continue and it makes the flash drive and boots into dos, ive done like 5 drives by preparing the usb like that.
flashed 16 benQ, 8 Sams25, 3 sam28, 2 hit 0059dj, 2 0047dh 3 0047dj, still stuck on 0078fk, failed 0047dj hardware

If your computer dont have a floppy drive installed and in the bios the floppy is not disabled it can cause a problem
with the dump/read of a 360 drive. There are some that say it goes fine if they hit continue but other have to go into the bios and disable the floppy for it to work right.

i have floppy drives in all my computers so i dont have first hand experience with this problem.
