Best discs to use: Verbatim DL+R (Singapore made). There are 2 types of Verbatim, the good ones made in Singapore and the "not-as-good-ones" made in India. These are not the only ones that will work, but if you want the best ones, with the lease amount of errors, coasters...and the ones that reputedly last the longest, Verbatim is the way to go.

You're welcome. Here is an eBay seller that sells the good ones and I believe he ships worldwide (if you're not in the States) http://cgi.ebay.com/20-VERBATIM-DVD-R-D ... dZViewItem If you find any place that sells them cheaper, let us know!

In my opinion it's best not to order DVD media off eBay, there is no guarantee that you will get what you order. Verbatim DVD+R DL discs can be had for $2 a disc from several reputable websites around the world. I can't count how many times people ordered Taiyo Yuden DVD's off eBay on other sites only to end up with fakes or forged TYG02 media ID's.

Some reputable sites to order DVD+RL Verbatim's from include http://www.newegg.com
http://www.supermediastore.com
http://www.meritline.com

In the UK:

Correct me if I'm wrong Sesshomaru, but none of those 3 sites you listed actually sell the Verbatim DVD+R DL for $2 or less once shipping and/or tax is included. Unlike eBay where you will get them for $2 or just under...even after shipping.

Frankly I don't see why you wouldn't buy discs off eBay...when you pay with PayPal you are covered as a buyer and if you don't get what is advertised, you get your money back...guaranteed. Besides, this seller (listed above), sells exactly what you see in the picture.

Regards

You can get them for $2 a disc or cheaper from a couple of those sites, I have gotten 20 spindles for under $40 on a couple occasions, particularly when newegg or supermediastore have free shipping. sms and newegg have new deals weekly.

supermediastore @$40: http://supermediastore.com/verbatim-953 ... -pack.html

newegg@$40: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817130008

It's slightly over $40, by about 50 cents in both cases, including shipping.

It's a preference thing. Back in my PS2 hey day, many people were ripped off for fake TYGO2 (Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R's) DVD's on eBay. Some discs even had a forged Media ID in programs like DVD Identifier. People actually had to check the markings on the underside of the disc to see they were not legit Taiyo Yuden discs.

I've never ordered DL media off eBay, I'm sure there are some sellers which offer legit deals on quality media. It's my preference to take the possibility of deceitfulness out of the equation, no matter how remote. You're only saving $4 by using that guy by the way. If you add insurance+shipping, the cost is going to be almost identical to newegg or supermediastore. You might save $2 in the end.

But to each their own, that's my view on the issue.

From this site:
http://www.netsoftmedia.com/verbatim/verbatim95310.html

They are only selling "Made in Singapore", as others have noticed that the "Made in India" discs aren't as good.

$36 for a 20-pack isn't bad.

I've seen a 50-pack from Sam's Club for $70 but it only pays if they are "Made in Singapore" and if they actually have them in stock. :)

I personally wouldn't buy from any vendor unless they *specifically* state that it's MIS. So, if they don't say that, I'd personally be looking at eBay.

Honestly, I've never had any problems with Made in Taiwan or Made in Singpore Verbatims. They were made in Taiwan for a long time and still use MKM dyes. The only point at which Verb's were not good media was when they outsourced briefly to CMC Mag several years back. Once word got out in the burning community, they quickly stopped outsourcing to CMC.

Why do you feel the made in Singapore Verb's are better?
